Christ Chapel Turns 18
For nearly two decades, Christ Chapel (formerly Christ Chapel of Laguna) has been providing ministry and outreach to the LGBT community in south Orange County. Everyone is invited and welcome to attend the church’s anniversary celebration, which will feature great music and an upbeat service with the Rev. Lillian Lobb. A barbecue potluck follows the service.
Christ Chapel is a Christ-centered church that offers a pleasant alternative to religious organizations that condemn gays and lesbians. The church adheres to the belief that homosexuality is not a sin.
Lobb, who founded Christ Chapel, has been involved in various ministries providing outreach to the gay and lesbian community. She said she hopes sexual orientation will “no longer be an issue that divides the Body of Christ,” and that everyone will be welcome into houses of worship, regardless of the gender of his or her partner.
Having an open and affectionate church helps gays and lesbians find comfort. Lobb for many years has worked with organizations fighting for acceptance among gays and lesbians.
Christ Chapel’s expansion of its facility allows the church to continue its advocacy of gay and lesbian rights. The church shares its new location with O. C. Cornerstone Outreach, which serves the Orange County LGBT community through a variety of services including weekly food distribution; holiday toy, gift and food distribution; and other services.
Both Christ Chapel and Cornerstone Outreach are located at 22722 Lambert St., Suite 1712, in Lake Forest.
Christ Chapel’s 18th anniversary celebration takes place Aug. 1, beginning at 10 a.m. For information, call (949) 376-2099 or visit www.christchapeloflaguna.org. For more about O.C. Cornerstone Outreach, call (949) 305-4307.
