Drop Dead Diva Comes to Lifetime

Review By Bill LaPointe

I love fantasy tales, especially those like Heaven Can Wait with Warren Beatty, where the character, after dying, returns to earth in another body.
Lifetime Channel brings such a tale to life in a comedy series titled Drop Dead Diva.
We are first introduced to a completely self-absorbed gorgeous model. Then we witness a bright, dumpy, insecure lawyer munching down thick gooey doughnuts.
Both tragically die. However, our gorgeous model manages to be thrust back to earth but into the body of the dumpy attorney. YIKES! Let the hilarity begin.
This is a tight and fast moving script. All of the actors are superb in their roles.
Drop Dead Diva stars Brooke Elliott (Broadway’s Taboo, Wicked). The series also stars Margaret Cho (Notorious C.H.O.) who does a superb job as Elliott’s secretary, and lookin fine too, Jackson Hurst (The Tree of Life), Kate Levering (Cashmere Mafia), April Bowlby (Two and a Half Men), Josh Stamberg (Lie to Me), Brooke D’Orsay (How I Met Your Mother) and Ben Feldman (The Perfect Man).
Guest stars throughout the season include Rosie O’Donnell, Tim Gunn, Sharon Lawrence, Kathy Najimy, Jorja Fox, Elliott Gould, Chuck Woolery and Diedrich Bader.
Drop Dead Diva premiers July 12 at 9 p.m. on Lifetime Channel.
