Community United for Joe Shaw
Long Beach City Council members Robert Garcia and Gerrie Schipske are co-hosting an LGBT event for Joe Shaw for Huntington Beach City Council on Sun., Feb. 28, from 4-6 p.m. at Metro Q Club & Restaurant, 19092 Beach Blvd, Huntington Beach.
Joe Shaw is a longtime LGBT community volunteer. In the past, he’s volunteered for APLA, the Wall-Las Memorials Latino AIDS Awareness Program and the AIDS Service Center in Pasadena. In 2007, he attended the Victory Fund’s candidate academy. If elected, he will become the only openly gay elected official in Orange County.
Shaw has served as a Huntington Beach planning commissioner, public works commissioner and charter review commissioner. On Feb. 10, the Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club endorsed Shaw. Co-hosts for this event include: Jeff LeTourneau, Alica Berhow, Carina Franck-Pantone, ECCO, Harvey Milk Stonewall Dems of OC, Huntington Beach City Councilwoman Jill Hardy, former Huntington Beach Mayors Debbie Cook and Connie Boardman.
