GO Hosts Whiting Ranch Day Hike
Join the Orange County/Long Beach Chapter of Great Outdoors for an easy day hike through “Orange County’s Mini Grand Canyon.” Limestone Canyon and Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park encompass about 4,300 acres of woodland canyons, rolling grassland hills and steep slopes of coastal sage scrub and chaparral. The park is highlighted by scenic rock formations, including the beautiful Red Rock Canyon. There are three intermittent streams: Borrego, Serrano and Aliso Creek meandering through the park, each hosting an abundance of wildlife. Remnants of former cattle ranching days can be seen throughout the park.
No RSVP is necessary for the event; you can show up at the trail head at 8:30 a.m. on Sat., March 13. However please email hike leader Jamie at GO-jamie@msn.com for a head count.
Parking is $3 in exact change, and the park is closed for three days following rain. To verify access, call the park at (949) 923-2245.
The monthly membership meeting will be held March 2 at the El Torito, 15042 Goldenwest St., Westminster. Social hour will begin at 7 p.m. and the main meeting at 8 p.m.
